NaNo Day Four

Well, it is the end of Day Four. My total word count goal is 8,000 words. I am at 9,314. I will likely not get much opportunity to write tomorrow, so the 1,314 word buffer could be really useful. That doesn't mean I'm going to sit on my laurels and not write just because I'm ahead a bit. Nope, I'm still going to try to fit in a little bit of writing. It just means I don't have to if I have a headache or some emergency pops up.

The story has veered away from the Tarot Card plot completely. It now has a mind of its own. I just hope it has enough grey matter in that mind to add up to 50,000 words.

I'm glad the writing has been going so well! :-) You're smart to try to stay ahead just in case anything unforeseen does happen.

I think it's actually a good thing when a story takes on a life of its own. When that happens, I just step back and let it roar. While I'm all for plot outlines, I've learned that it's not good to force something. If a story veers off the set path then it's probably for a good reason.
Writing, so far, has definitely been far from easy. In fact, it has been a real chore. I have written only to keep ahead of my required word count. I despaired that I would never get into the groove. But it is beginning to take shape.

You are so right. It is always better when a story takes on a life of its own. Finally, it feels like I might start getting interested in this story. The depression is beginning to lift.
