We met for lunch because we had to attend an information session for people on the escorted cruise tour. I've been on two cruises before. The first in 1980 and the second in 2004. I don't think I want to do the cruise on your own thing again. It is amazing just how much extra is included in this tour. Considering the extras they've packed in, I don't know how on earth they made any money on this thing. I mean, once the hotels, transfers and gratuities are factored in, the price was about the same whether we went with the tour or booked separately. Then they added two city tours, two dinners (one an Argentine barbeque) and several cocktail parties and a couple more dinners on the ship...all with free-flowing wine.
Those who know me well know that this trip has bothered me a bit. I'm very hands-on and used to making all the arrangements and having all the control. I have had almost no control over this one and it was making me antsy. Now that I have more details, I am not going to complain. I certainly could not have done better.
After we had lunch, there was still some time to kill so we went shopping. Mom is looking for a long skirt. Of course, we haven't been able to find any. All the skirts are well above the knee. At 79, she doesn't want to show that much skin. So, to thank her for taking me on this trip (she paid for it), I am making her a nice, light ankle-length skirt. Just don't tell her or you'll spoil the secret.
