Ménière's disease

I had two really nasty vertigo attacks early Thursday morning. I've been experiencing mild vertigo for a few months, but these scared me enough to see the doctor. Apparently, I have Ménière's disease. We are both hoping it is not permanent. He's trying me on one type of medication to start with.

This site has some pretty good descriptions for those who are interested.

You're the second person I know who's been diagnosed, actually.
Apparently the incidence is something like 1/2000, so I'm not surprised you know someone with it.

I'm so sorry. That sounds absolutely horrible. I know this may not seem like much comfort at the moment, but I think it's good that you were diagnosed and know what you're dealing with. I truly hope it isn't permanent and that the medication you're taking will help.
I guess I'm in the denial stage because I'm hoping it's a misdiagnosis. It is a permanent and progressive condition and I'm not ready to resign myself to that until we've exhausted every other possible diagnosis.
