One more reason I don't have a FaceBook account

Should your employer be able to ask for your Facebook password?

Easiest question in the world to answer -- NO! That also goes for my amazon password, my twitter, my lj, my, well you know, what ever. Just like they can't have my PIN for my bank accounts or credit cards. What do they want it for? To misrepresent me with posts?

Why would they want it? If you're not sharing it online (and anything you need the password to access can't be seen by anyone but YOU, hence needing the password). Why not come over and search a employee's house before hiring while they are at it.

I personally don't think they should be able to ask if you even have a facebook account, never mind what the password is. Unless of course, your site is directly connected to your work.
And, no, they can't have the results of my most recent pap smear either.

I can't say I was shocked by the employer's request. Saddened, yes, but not shocked.
That's pretty scary and a total invasion of privacy. I like to keep my private life separate from my professional life, so the idea of my boss or manager poking around in my Facebook account is horrible. Well, actually, I'd be more horrified if they got a hold of my LJ as I hardly ever post on Facebook anymore and would happily leave if my siblings weren't so in love with it.
I don't give my password to anyone. They can see the public postings, but that is all. Next thing you know we'll be in a "Minority Report" scenario.
