Health news

Now that my family is all informed I can post this on LJ.

I found a lump in my right breast on the morning of February 23rd. I called my family doctor and told the receptionist the reason I wanted an appointment; she got me in just before lunch. The doctor could not find the lump, but he sent me for a mammogram. I managed to get the mammogram the next morning at 8am.

The results came back last week: two cysts of fat necrosis that is calcifying, most likely caused by damage from previous surgery. Nothing to worry about, but they will redo the tests in 12 to 18 months to check for changes.

Edited to add: I forgot to mention that my blood pressure has gone down from 148/96 to 117/82 over the past three months. Two things I can think might have made the difference are moving closer to work, friends, and family as well as stopping using Aspirin and Ibuprofen (on the advice of my doctor).

Dear lord! No ibuprofen (I never use Aspirin)?!?!
Lowering my blood pressure has reduced my migraines to mild headaches too.
I'm happy that the lump turned out to be two cysts of fat necrosis that are calcifying. I'm sure you must have been extremely relieved to hear that. You were smart to schedule a doctor's appointment as soon as you found the lump.

I should also congratulate you on successfully lowering your blood pressure. The new numbers look so much better. You've made excellent progress in only three months. :-)
Thank you. I just wish my doctor had told me about the connection between Aspirin, ibuprofen, and high blood pressure several years ago. I used ibuprofen for all my aches and pains. As you can see, just switching to acetaminophen yielded dramatic results.
