Extra careful

Well, I am preparing to start (restart) the coat of arms cross stitch. I am being extra careful counting when I baste the 10 x 10 grid. I am taking extra time and double/triple checking every count. I know the grid is the basis I will use for placement and checking for errors along the way, so it must be right.

It is taking me more than twice as long to baste the grid on Irish linen than it took on aida. I think part of it is because I am taking extra care and part is because it is much harder to make sure I am on exactly the same row. I guess that explains the double and triple checking. I am looking forward to stitching on the linen. I think it will look better than on the aida. Also, the colour and non-uniform colouring of the linen is more suitable for the design. It will make it look older and less modern.
