La Ronde

My husband, stepson and I spent Wednesday at La Ronde amusement park in Montreal. We managed to get on a total of five, yes five, rides for the entire day. The lineups were crazy. If you go, spend the extra $10 and get the flash pass. If we had known about it, we certainly would have. We had planned a mid-week day on which there were no special events at the park, so we expect other days would be crazy busy.

Our favourite ride was Goliath. It has great up and down motion and you get some marvelous zero-g time. It also runs really smoothly so it is easier on the joints. It is one of the longer coaster rides I've been on. Apparently, it is a 3/4 size version of a standard Six Flags ride and it is the tallest coaster in Canada.

The stand-up coaster Cobra was hell. The harness was incredibly uncomfortable (hit the wrong spots in private areas) and the ride was jerky enough to leave all three of us with terrible headaches. My husband said he just gritted his teeth and hoped it would end quickly because it caused so much pain to his head with the jerkiness and the side-to-side motion that kept banging his ears against the harness. This comes from a man who loves all kinds of roller coasters.

Brimley makes a mess

I didn't see it; but my husband was LHAO over it.

First, the background: We keep a towel on the toilet paper in our bathroom because Brimley, my Quaker, likes to shred the toilet paper. Well, sometimes one of us forgets to put the towel back on and we end up with a little mess.

I didn't witness this; but my husband was LHAO on Monday. Hubby had forgotten to put the towel back on the toilet paper. He was totally absorbed in his computer room when he had to relieve himself. He went to the bathroom to find Brimley had grabbed the end of the toilet paper and flown into the bedroom trailing paper behind him. He had flown back to the bathroom for more. Brimley has been in nesting fever lately, so I suspect he was gathering building materials.

Brimley visits the vet

Brimley went to the vet yesterday for a checkup and to get his talons (pedicure) and beak (facial) trimmed/cleaned up. He was very cooperative, as long as I was holding him and not the vet. The vet was quite surprised at his cooperativeness. She was also impressed with his healthiness because he is on a human diet. We don't give him the pellet diet she thinks he should be on because he won't eat what we won't eat. He lives on a varied diet of beans, peas, corn, chicken, pork, bagel, banana, tomato, coffee, tea, ice cream...you name it. He does not get avocado which the vet specifically said he should not get. Also, she said to limit the number of grapes he gets. He tried one; but didn't like it, so he is self-limiting.

I am very happy that he is healthy and well-adjusted.
