Colin Firth to Star in My Fair Lady

I have a couple of problems with this article. First, the female is the lead and I doubt Mr. Firth will be playing Eliza Doolittle. Second, Sony, what were you thinking? Hugh Grant as Henry Higgins? Are you nuts? Mr. Grant is not a strong enough actor to play that part. As for bankable, Mr. Grant is yesterday's news and has been for some time. Mr. Firth has proven he is capable of more than just romantic comedies.

That's my first vent of the day.

Writer's Block: Ride the lightning

Should people who are sentenced to life in prison be allowed the death penalty as an option, and why?

I don't think so.
1) Why should they have the option of checking out when the rest of us don't? (Make assisted suicide legal and we'll talk.)
2) Does ending their punishment quickly amount to a real punishment or deterrent for others?
3) This would not leave open the possibility of atonement and correction.

If I had more time I could probably come up with better arguments.
